Specialty coffee and roasters in Istanbul

Istanbul's coffee scene is spread across the city's busy central streets, and several of the places below sit along İstiklal Caddesi, the long pedestrian avenue that runs north from Taksim. The entries here range from a large chain outlet to smaller cafés, a pastry-and-coffee house and a café with a bookshop attached.

Access varies more than the names suggest. Some places are marked as wheelchair accessible, others as limited or not accessible, so it is worth checking before you go if step-free access matters to you.

Practical notes

Opening hours and access are listed as recorded for each place, so check the website or phone before you visit, particularly for the cafés without listed hours. Istiklal Caddesi holds three of the entries (Mado, Lebon and Ada Cafe + Bookstore), so those can be visited on one walk. Hafiz Mustafa 1864 is the only entry open all day and night.
