Museums and Cultural Centres in Tokyo

Tokyo holds museums on very different subjects, and the eight entries here show how far that range goes. They cover contemporary art, printing, calligraphy and archaeology, music, postal history, fire prevention, Japanese painting and swords. Several sit in the same neighbourhoods, so a single day can take in more than one.

Opening days vary from place to place. Some museums are closed on Mondays, others on Mondays and Tuesdays, and at least one is open on public holidays. Check the hours for each museum before you set out, as they are listed below as published.
